At worst you should just be required to give the money back, not prison. I would seriously rather make the company that made the software on the ATM pay for the damages because they offered a faulty product to the bank. Why is it that if you mess with a bank the random person who found the bug pays for it but when someone dies because a medical software has bugs the company that made the software is accountable and not the doctor who used the software ? Tell me how tipping sucks for workers again? Seriously, any American bartender worth a shit makes nearly triple that. I did that in the 80s, but it ate my card after a few grand. Nice, no interest graduation present/loan. When they sent me a bill, I paid it via check, which cleared, due to bounce-proof checking, buying me another month. Fees were way cheaper than a credit card would have been.
