If you can only get people to understand our world is not over populated. Major cities are, but by far there is more uninhabited land than there is given credit for. I’m in one of those blue states and I already think there are too many people. LA sounds like a nightmare to me lol And LA county has more registered Republicans than the entire populations of Alaska, Delaware, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, or Wyoming I don’t miss the crowds, traffic, or expenses, but Los Angeles was a very cool place to live from a people perspective. I moved to Utah for a tech job and cheaper living, and the amount of people you meet here that are just the same person, with the same background, same interests, same personalities even, is bewildering. Whereas in Los Angeles, it was very rare to meet the same person twice and was much easier to find and make friends. I mean, Los Angeles county is MASSIVE in physical size, so this isn’t as crazy as it sounds. This county is FOUR times as large as Rhode Island. California’s population is about equal to the entire country of Canada. Canada has roughly 10x the land though much of it is frozen and uninhabitable. Texas population is about 9 million less than California, a differential roughly equal to the population of LA County, though Texas has 50% more inhabitable land. They need to add a second layer to that and highlight the multiple states combined that have less population as well.
This map highlights why most states don’t want to get rid of the electoral college. Many people who grew up in the midwest have very different lives and lifestyles than those in the very large cities. Why does the 5th largest economy in the world still need the union? Seems like it could easily be its own nation. Las Vegas is growing pretty fast . I can see them being part of a county with a big population in the coming years Utah and Missouri are two States I grew up in and have family in both. I live in an LA suburb now and when visiting I like to tell them LA County has more people that both Utah and Missouri combined. The LA metro areas population is 13,400,000 only (not counting Ca.) Texas, Florida, and New York have larger populations. This is why I laugh every time someone mentions how their “city” has traffic issues and the like. Those places aren’t cities they are towns lol and the “traffic” problem is cute to see. This is why we need to run everything by the popular vote, make it a true democracy. Let the good folks of LA decide for all of us. *Also could be titled “States that would lose their power to control their laws and people if they had to join California”
And here is the proof that people in Los Angeles are not being accurately represented in places like the senate. The easiest way to destroy the United States would be to get rid of the Electoral College because those blue states wouldn’t matter to presidential elections anymore. Instead of making a case to all the subcultures in the country the politicians would just make promises to voters in dense urban centers like Los Angeles, Chicago, and NYC. The city-county of Los Angeles should apply for Statehood. There is no other logical alternative, it’ll solve the problems of representation in Congress and the State of California, and will still be in line with the U.S. Constitution. And doesn’t even list the population of LA County. Next we should do a countries list. FYI, it’s 10.04 million (2019).
