If there is not room for everyone, we will never reach a point of critical mass to bring about change that will affect not only consumer habits but also legislation and regulation. We need people to be engaged in these conversations, not mired in shame and apathy. I am inspired by the words of a friend who recently highlighted the importance of making sure to match the right message with the right person at the right time. Until we invite people in—fast-fashion consumers included—we will be failing to sway the majority into action. When I asked all three influencers to share their personal sustainability goals for the year, I was filled with hope.
